Week 2: Following the coliseum fight he orders a new suit of armor. He believes that he can make something out of it but it takes time and effort. He immediately started working on producing extracts from the healing herbs compost. He explained that he might have ways to help with the latest healing potion shortage and explained that he is an alchemist of some repute back in the mainland but he didn't manage to persuade anyone, at least not this time. The only worrisome part was Thongar's behavior. He approaches Penance and explains his idea. But hey there the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. He spent the remaining of the week in the college of the Magi working on the herbs extract and collecting information about the nobles in Grimgar. While they shared common beliefs in some subjects he and Marly have fundamentally different philosophies when it comes to things like necromancy. For once in his life he was actually quite happy to be so short. Tasting the samples made him dizzy and his tongue is numb…Maybe he has overdone it with tasting the extract. He orders some roast chicken and conjures some mayonnaise to accompany it. Penance who sits right next to him grabs a chicken thigh and dips it in the mayo He notices his fiendish friend, munching the chicken devouring liters of mayo guiltless, fully devoted to the act of eating without sense of remorse or caring about appearances. Jan has been working non stop on the extracts. The first few days he spends time with Sio, researching lore about the aberration plane and the ancient temple. The guards are reluctant to let him in but thankfully Sio's name does the trick. Three days have passed. Jan finds the proccess of imbuing items with magic fascinating. Jan will work behind the scenes. An adamantine half plate. He spends the rest of the week working with Penance on the business trying to improve the Mayonnaise flavor first by altering it magically and trying it out and then by physically adding ingredients apparently merfolk customers prefer it with a hint of seaweed. The others mentioned a new quest, the lighthouse but he's had enough of adventuring for now. He makes his way to the College of the Magi hoping that he will find the means to quench his thirst for knowledge. Thick fog hovers in the center, the ground shakes, fire erupts and from the flames Penance emerges flying. But even Sio's influence would not grant him access. They find suppliers, they hire a few people to sell the hot dogs and the mayo on the coliseum, they prepare hornshaped hats for the employees, they arrange for the promotion of the product and of course they pay a good sum to the coliseum to allow Jan and Penance to put on a show in the arena. In his dizziness he sees Penance as the embodiment of Zen. Well I can't blame him, not everyone was blessed with higher intellect like us gnomes. Jan discussed with Marly various aspects of their religions and tried to learn more about Torm. I added a hook for a potential problem with the Tormites. Mystra would not appreciate him neglecting The Art. All magic comes at a price but pact magic is unchartered territory and seriously messed up. Jan is running low on resources. He buys a helm of comprehend languages that he found and starts deciphering and tranlating the book and the journal the party found in the ancient temple. Imagine the cost if he was a human or an orc Mystra forbid.
